Serving south florida

My name is Andrea and I live in sunny South Florida; where we speak Spanglish on a daily basis and greet everyone with a hug or a kiss on the cheek. I have been shooting beautiful love stories since 2010 and with every wedding I document I fall in love with what I do even more.

I live for the relationship-building experience I get to have with my couples and the friendships that usually come out of it.

Tuesday Tips and Tricks: Centerpieces

Picking Out Centerpieces for your Wedding Day

One of the details I love shooting the most on the wedding day are centerpieces. Floral artists have such an amazing talent at turning a blank space into something extraordinary and unlike anything we’ve seen before.

Here are a few tips and ideas on centerpieces and how to decorate for your wedding day.

Variety of Vases

One of the things I’ve noticed with outdoor rustic weddings is the variety of vases that people use to fill up rectangular tables. In Alyssa and Zach’s case they wanted the flowers to be simple and to not break the bank so they used vases of all sizes and filled them with some of the most affordable flowers you could find. If you don’t want to keep the mason jar look, you can definitely visit your local dollar store and find some vases similar to the ones in the photographs below.

Cylinder Vases and Hydrangeas

Thalatta estate is one of our favorite venues to photograph weddings at, but one of the issues you may encounter when having your wedding outdoors are centerpieces that can get knocked down. Thalatta and Deering Estate in the winter can be somewhat windy and we have witnessed a few of the tall, slim vases fall over. This is why some of our brides choose to do the large cylinder glass vases filled with water if they want the tall look. Hydrangeas are also one of the most inexpensive flowers that florists recommend because their bushy heads help fill up vases and centerpieces quickly and affordably. Orchids submerged in vases filled with water with a floating candle on top also add a beautiful touch to beachy or tropical weddings.

Candles

I absolutely love walking into a ballroom that has a ton of candles lit up. Candles are another beautiful way to add ambient lighting to your reception and filling up your tables without breaking the bank. Of course, you would definitely have to invest in candle holders whether you buy them or rent them but it’ll add a touch of elegance to any event. Keep in mind tho that candles can be a bit of a hassle if you’re hosting an outdoor wedding. So you may want to look into oil lamps, lanterns, or even battery operated candles.

High and Low

High and low centerpieces are some of our favorites. It adds a dimension of height to the ballroom and definitely makes the room look a lot more interesting. The only complaint we’ve ever heard from some guests is that certain tall pieces obstruct them from seeing the person sitting across from them at a round table or even from witnessing what’s going on during the reception.
