Creating a Linktr.ee page on ShowIt

Linktr.ee and Showit

I absolutely loved Linktr.ee to add different links to my website on my Instagram Bio. Unfortunately Linktr.ee crashed a few times and prospective clients didn’t have access to my links for a few hours. That’s when I realized I could just create an add-on through ShowIt that would allow me to customize a Linktr.ee style page that would be cohesive with my branding.

Here’s a simple step-by-step guide on how to create your own. You may create it as a +Site where your subdomain will go before your domain ex. links.andreaarostegui.com or the way that I have it set up is as an additional page for example: andreaarostegui.com/hello

When you see it on a desktop this is what you see. It keeps the logo and colors of my boxes and links cohesive with my website.

Mobile Option

Your main priority is getting the mobile design done. Remember, you want to keep it simple, don’t overload it so that it loads quickly and your Instagram Followers have access to the most important links you want them to see.

I kept my mobile logo and menu bar on the top. Then I created the shapes and the links I want my followers to see.

Linking

Linking your URLs or Sites works the same way it does when you’re building a regular site. On the first bar I have a URL to a Missions Me fundraiser outside of my website. Therefore, I  chose Click Actions -> Type: URL -> entered the URL and the option to open up in a new window.

For the rest of the links I made sure to link my pages to the right boxes.

Once I had the mobile site down, I switched over to the desktop and made sure to keep the same look. I have seen a few people add photos to one side or above the links and make it only viewable on a desktop and not the mobile site. I have seen people stack all the links above each other.

There you have it! There’s so much you can do to customize it and keep your brand consistent! The best part is that you don’t have to depend on a third party’s server. If it crashes its because your website crashed or Showit’s servers crashed (something I have never had occur to me in the past 3 years that I have used them).
